  • A new BBC radio documentary profiles how livestreaming company Cercle produces events in scenic locations. DJ and broadcaster Frank McWeeny spent nine months following Cercle's founder and CEO, Derek Barbolla, and his team as they prepared to shoot Jamie Jones under a waterfall in Jajce, a remote part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The resulting programme, Cercle: Dance Under A Waterfall, is part of the BBC series In The Studio. "Having watched Cercle streams for over four years, I always wanted to find out how those breathtaking videos are put together," McWeeny told Resident Advisor. "And the Pliva Waterfalls show did not disappoint. From the logistical and creative challenges leading up to the event, to the onsite challenges right up to the start of the broadcast, there were big hurdles and lots of drama! Uncovering how much work goes into the curation, production and aesthetic was fascinating." Founded in 2016, Cercle has hosted livestreams in hot-air balloons, on top of glaciers and at the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Listen to Cercle: Dance Under A Waterfall on BBC Sounds, and watch the final video via Cercle's YouTube channel.
