- Malebox includes six recordings from 1978 through 1981.
Dark Entries has unearthed more unreleased material from the archives of late disco legend Patrick Cowley.
Six tracks made between 1978 and 1981, "one of Patrick’s most creatively exciting periods," according to a press release, will soon be available as part of a new EP called Malebox. Arriving on November 12th, Cowley's 40th death anniversary, via the San Fransisco label, Malebox includes early demos for disco singers Paul Parker and Loverde as well as a demo version of "Low Down Dirty Rhythm" with Jeanie Tracy's vocals.
Malebox is the latest in Dark Entries' series of archival records featuring Cowley, who passed away in 1982. In 2020, it released Some Funkettes, an album of his '70s disco and funk covers. The label has been working with Cowley’s friends and family to release his previously unheard and lesser-known material since 2009.
