  • Düsseldorf club Golzheim is closing this weekend. The final parties will take place on Friday, January 27th, and Saturday, January 28th, with the likes of Marcel Woyt, Roxtone, David Langer, Claus Bachor, tangram and founder Daniel Fritschi tapped to play. Opened in May 2016, Golzheim sits underneath Theodor Heuss Bridge on the Rhine River. The club took one and a half years to build using mostly recycled materials from abandoned factories. Due to planned construction on the bridge, the club has to close and have all its contents—including the sound system, wooden floor, bar and DJ booth—removed. "Even the steel beams under the ceiling have to be permanently removed," Fritschi told Resident Advisor, "which will result in a more significant investment in case we can rebuild the club, compared to what was necessary in the beginning. Plus, in a timeframe of three years, there will be an even bigger final maintenance of the club's structure. This means there's no way to rebuild the club before all of that is finished." Right now, Fritschi, who has until the end of February to vacate the premises, believes there's only a "very small chance" that Golzheim will return. In the meantime, he plans to take a holiday, release two records from artists affiliated with the club and focus on his new live hardware improvisation trio, Logarhythm. Over the past seven years, Golzheim has become one of Düsseldorf's best house and techno clubs, particularly for vinyl DJs. Past guests include Future Beat Alliance, Fred P, Marcel Vogel, Oshana, Cinnaman, Jus-Ed and Elias Mazian. Here are this weekend's flyers, plus some photos of Golzheim.
