  • Virtuoso will host classes from an array of notable DJs in the coming months. The virtual music school will welcome Sally C, Mor Elian, Heidi, MJ Cole, Rockwell and Fade Black across the year. Subjects include playing on vinyl, sampling breaks, sound design and building beats. "Music learning in the UK and beyond could be reshaped by an alternative model where a multipolar community curates courses and connects directly with artists online and off," cofounder and CEO Austen Smart told Resident Advisor. "This will put the interests of the learning, sharing and co-creating person at the heart of the decision-making processes, and this is what we're working on every day." He continued: "We believe the benefits to the music community of this approach include an increased number of people who are able to participate in music learning programmes through easy access, a more diverse and inclusive range of music education offerings and a stronger local music scene which can generate cultural and economic benefits for the community." A learning platform and community for people who want to improve their music-making abilities, Virtuoso has previously hosted classes from the likes of SHERELLE, Skream, LCY, Plastician, Toddla T, Krust, Flava D, Archie Hamilton, Moonchild Sanelly, Joris Voorn and object blue. In 2021, Virtuoso launched Future1000, a free programme hosted by BBC Radio 1's Jaguar that aims to empower women and gender minorities aiming to break into the music industry. The initiative has been supported by Annie Mac, Jayda G and The Blessed Madonna, among others. Explore all video courses here.
