  • DJ Clent has released a tribute EP for his late mother, Chicago DJ and dance music matriarch Natalie Hill. Self-released on Saturday, February 18th, #LongLiveMamaHill spans five high-energy footwork cuts from one of the scene's pioneers. It's his first EP of 2023, following last year's Last Bus To Lake Park and WHICH MACHINE TO USE. A beloved DJ and member of Chicago's dance music community, Hill passed away last month. She DJ'd as Chocolate Star in the '70s and '80s, becoming a familiar face on the city's circuit before later serving as secretary for a local record pool. DJ Clent previously told The Quietus that he lifted many of the samples for his tracks from his mother's 5000-strong collection of funk, jazz, soul, disco and R&B records. His music has found its way onto labels such as Planet Mu, Blank Mind and Dance Mania. Listen to #LongLiveMamaHill.
