  • Nathan Micay is releasing a new album inspired by pop music, role-playing video games (RPGs) and his film and TV scores. To The God Named Dream is out on May 31st via LuckyMe. The artwork for the vinyl version features an original multi-player board game, which Micay says is a cross between Jumanji and Hellraiser. "I listened to a lot of pop through the pandemic from Taylor Swift, Caroline Polachek and "Rain"-era Madonna," Micay said. "I wanted to synthesise these references with my score work and downtempo and club music." He added: "I'm often invited to evoke heavy emotion and melodrama in my score work and I think this naturally pushed my own music towards something altogether different: live banjo, live breakbeats, 808 bass hits, trance synths. Sounds gross but these things are part of me and have their place here. If you want orthodox Dance Music™ there's a lot of it out there already." To The God Named Dream is Micay's first LP since 2020's The World I'm Going To Hell For and the anime-inspired Blue Spring in 2019. More recently, he's scored several shows for HBO and the BBC, including Industry, Reality and Time Bomb Y2K. Watch the video for "Fangs," and revisit Micay's RA Podcast from 2018.
