  • Long-standing Sydney promoter Picnic is closing down this summer. Founder Carly Roberts (AKA Kali) confirmed the news yesterday, April 6th, via Instagram. "15 years ago Picnic was started as a platform for people to be able to perform at their best," she wrote. "I always hoped to get to a 20-year milestone, however as many now know, the losses have become unsustainable, and for this reason, I've made the very difficult decision to take a final bow, and say 'see ya never' to Picnic." As part of its closing run, Picnic will take over the Ace Hotel every Friday in April. A 15th birthday party is planned for May 26th at Sydney Opera House. Levon Vincent is down to headline. Picnic's grand finale will take place at the Abercrombie Hotel on July 29th. The lineup is still TBA. Over the past 15 years, Picnic has booked more than 4,000 DJs and live acts for 600 parties across Sydney. It gave the likes of DJ Harvey, Jayda G and Peggy Gou their Australian debuts.
