  • Audio brand AIAIAI and SHERELLE's BEAUTIFUL platform are launching a free-to-use studio space in North London. Geared towards Black and queer music creators, the fully furnished studio will provide a community space for aspiring artists to develop ideas and record on a range of professional equipment. It's the latest collaboration between AIAIAI and BEAUTIFUL, following the launch of a free academy in London for queer and BIPOC artists last August. "In the current climate, many things are getting more expensive, and people need to divert their money elsewhere," said SHERELLE. "It's fantastic to have an initiative like this alongside AIAIAI, which also believes in the same principle of allowing people to create more freely. Hopefully, we can make more of these and do this internationally." This isn't AIAIAI's first initiative in support of underrepresented musicians. Last May, the company launched Future Of Sound, a scheme spotlighting women, nonbinary, gender non-conforming and trans producers. More recently, AIAIAI introduced Remixed, a sustainability scheme that allows customers to repair their used headphones or trade them in whole or as modular parts in return for store credit. SHERELLE started BEAUTIFUL in 2020 in response to the whitewashing and erasure of Black and queer history in electronic music. She described it as "a multifaceted platform that will look to address ownership, wealth and building and maintaining community." Apply now for studio time, and find out more below.
