  • Cormac has launched a podcast called Queerly Beloved. Spanning eight episodes, the series went live yesterday, January 9th, featuring conversations with The xx's Romy and Andy Butler from Hercules & Love Affair. Cormac told Resident Advisor that the podcast will explore the unifying role of music in nurturing LGBTQIA+ people and their creativity. The upcoming guests are Lakuti, Planningtorock, Fat Tony, Kim Ann Foxman, fka.m4a and Josh Caffé. Cormac, a DJ and queer health advocate who runs Polari Records, said the idea for Queerly Beloved was conceived in the wake of the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. But he felt this was an "inappropriate time to be speaking about music when so many in our community had big struggles on their hands. As a white cis-man, I felt it was my time to listen rather than talk." After returning to the project last summer, Cormac hopes it will connect people through music–something he wanted to do in a way other than DJing. "There's a lot of division in the world, of people, of opinions," he added. "It's my hope that by telling our individual stories, we can find common ground, to remember and practice being a community more. Not only an LGBTQIA+ community but a dance music community." Queerly Beloved episodes will drop every fortnight, accompanied by playlists on various channels. In addition to the eight interviews, there will be a shorter bonus episode featuring extra context about some of the artists, music and places discussed in the series. Listen to the first two episodes, and revisit Cormac's RA Podcast from last year.
