Techno artist Radical Softness dies aged 28

Radical Softness, real name Lea-Rose Besson, has died at the age of 28. Znzl, cofounder of Paris label Demian Records, announced the news via Instagram yesterday, February 15th. Besson's passing was confirmed by their mother, who commented on the post. No cause of death is known as of yet.

Arts Council England accused of political censorship after policy update

Arts Council England has been accused of trying to censor artists and organisations following an update to its Relationship Framework policies. Published on January 25th, the update warned that "overtly political or activist" statements may now risk breaching funding agreements. Organisations must be alert to the risk of "statements, including about matters of current political debate" made by staff and others associated with them, particularly that which "might be perceived as being in conflict with the purposes of public funding of culture."

BIPOC members of Berlin venue Oyoun struggle in aftermath of closure

32 BIPOC members of Berlin cultural centre Oyoun are facing uncertain futures since its closure in December. Oyoun was forced to shut after the Berlin Senate pulled its €1 million of public funding over allegations of antisemitism, triggered by an event hosted by a Jewish group supportive of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Four Tet to release new album, Three, next month

New details of Four Tet's upcoming album have emerged.Three will arrive on March 15th via the UK artist's label, Text Records. Spanning eight tracks, it'll be his first LP since 2020's Sixteen Oceans and Parallel.

US artist visa fees to increase by over 120 percent

The US government is increasing fees for artist visas. Starting April 1st, application costs for the O visa, which grants musicians and DJs a three-year stay in the US, will jump from $460 to $1,055, an increase of 129 percent. The P visa, for shorter stays that are tied to a specific event, will move from $460 to $1,015, a 121 percent jump.
