- The Footscray arts space opened last Friday, March 15th.
A new bar and venue opened in Melbourne's Inner West over the weekend.
Located in Footscray, Misfits is a music and arts space founded by Jacob Bell, Amber Hahipene and Jerry Poon. Bell and Hahiphene run respective Melbourne venues Ferdydurke and Section 8 Container Bar, while Poon runs long-running local party The Operatives.
"We want Misfits to be a platform for new talent," said Hahipene. "A stomping ground for the local community and a home to people who love music and hospitality."
The venue will host a diverse selection of local and international artists, alongside more community-focussed events such as workshops, panel discussions and live recordings.
The team are also planning to use the outdoor square behind the bar. "We really want to activate this space," said Bell. "Promoting Footscray and all it has to offer through laneway parties and festivals."
Misfits will be open from 5 PM through 11 PM on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays, with a later opening time of 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
