Systematic chief Marc Romboy taps his Chicago house roots on sophomore album, Contrast, due out early summer.
Romboy's first longplayer was made with Stephan Bodzin, but this time Contrast has been produced with longtime studio friends 45 Rocks. The album, which has a more soulful edge, includes vocal collaborations with Trax man K.Alexi as well as frequent Romboy collaborators Chelonis R. Jones and Blake Baxter. "I've chosen all these collaborations because I love to include soul into the electronic music I make," says Romboy. "And the warm and emotional voices of these people contribute exactly what I love. I couldn't make instrumental tracks with a computer only. Sometimes yes, but working with voices is always a beautiful thing."
