Teknicolor’s story so far has been something of a whirlwind. Starting life at the Mint Club in September 2009 and pioneering the first Thursday club night in Leeds to administer a weekly dose of cutting edge house & techno, the support Teknicolor gained in its first few months was both overwhelming and humbling, and an appropriate response was necessary. For 2010 the focus was “to attract some of the hottest djs and producers on the scene to play monthly guest headline sets whilst continuing to book some of the UK and Ibiza's most hotly tipped upcoming talents”.
This saw us enlist help from the likes of Cesar Merveille, Julien Chaptal and Simon Baker who, alongside trusty residents Marshan, Sepp & Gabbi, helped create unrivalled atmospheres with near capacity crowds of knowledgeable music lovers and cool, fun-loving students in attendance on a weekly basis. Being sure to strictly limit admittance to prevent overcrowding and protect Teknicolor’s exceptional party vibe, headline duties were taken up by Steve Lawler, Rhadoo, Nic Fanciulli and Buckley – and although still in its relative infancy, the night was now firmly established as a key feature of Leeds burgeoning party scene.
For what was a truly remarkable first year for Teknicolor, it was seen out in a no less remarkable fashion with our chums System, Robert Dietz, Reboot and our extended family of reprobates. After a hectic year which saw the Teknicolor Team smash Amsterdam, Berlin, Timewarp Mannheim & Love Family Park, and a short (but necessary!) break to allow the grey matter to recover, its time for the Teknicolor train to steam ahead once again..
