- California dance music institution Lights Down Low has been entertaining creatures of the night for over 10 years, throwing parties in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and beyond. What began as a tiny monthly party at the infamous 222 Hyde club in the Tenderloin has become a multi-city enterprise dedicated to hedonism in all its glory. With non-stop parties in Los Angeles and San Francisco, all shape shifting and geared toward pure party satisfaction. Playing at their own parties or individually they take deep dives sonically , moving across genres from hands in the air house, to punishing techno, finding room in between, flexing industrial/EBM favorites or weirdo freak outs. Richie Panic & Corey Sizemore are renowned for their eclectic DJing style and the same holds true for their bookings. “We only book the artists and sounds that we play and are fans of first and foremost.The artists that we find in our record bags and we want to bring to the sweaty masses” Lights Down Low has featured too many guests to count, but some notable acts include Nina Kraviz, Jamie xx, Ben UFO, Carl Craig, Honey Dijon, Roman Flugel, Marcel Dettman, Optimo, Maceo Plex, Four Tet, Barnt, Volvox, Fatima Yamaha, Veronica Vasicka, Jacques Greene, Octo, Octa, Derrick Carter, Helena Hauff, Evian Christ, Josh Wink, Jennifer Cardini, DJ Stingray, Daniel Avery, Paranoid London, Erol Alkan, and Silent Servant. Founders and resident DJs Corey Sizemore and Richie Panic both got their start in small venues, throwing intimate parties with wild vibes. Separately, each had a dedicated following of partygoers who trusted their taste and curation. Together, the two have built Lights Down Low into a hedonistic heaven that spans genres, cultures, crews, genders, and more. Everything Lights Down Low stands for, and everything Richie & Corey aim to do is done under the aegis of bringing people from across the dance music cultural spectrum together to rave on the same dance floor. “No limits, no boundaries, just dancing.”
