While remaining DIY at heart, event production company and record label, IHEARTCOMIX has managed to expand its empire from the humble roots of booking parties in Los Angeles to an unstoppable force of cultural taste making in the digital age. Created by DJ/Illustrator Franki Chan in 2006, IHEARTCOMIX became the vehicle for Chan to take his love for underground culture and present it to a larger market. With dedicated events like the Check Yo Ponytail series and a well developed multimedia presence, IHEARTCOMIX has since increased their outreach beyond their LA backyard; creating party weekends in Austin with Emo’s and Beauty Ballroom, mansion pool parties in Miami, stage takeovers at festivals like Fun Fun Fun Fest and full on North American tours; enabling everyone to be a part of the nonstop party that IHC has become known for.
In the past, IHEARTCOMIX has had a hand in the development of dance culture in the American music scene, introducing acts like Justice, Boys Noize, and Switch to the greater Los Angeles market. With the advent of IHC Records, artists like HEARTSREVOLUTION and Toxic Avenger helped pave the way for the electronic renaissance that still thrives in these modern times. Additionally, the discovery of Matt & Kim helped place IHC Records on the map, while the band remains one of the more successful acts of today. IHEARTCOMIX has always focused on showcasing artists who are eccentric and groundbreaking, regardless of genre. By creating memorable experiences that are unparalleled and unique, IHEARTCOMIX successfully provides a refreshing outlet for artists and genres that may not normally be represented on a larger scale.
Behind the scenes, IHEARTCOMIX has expanded from the one man working horse that it was, into a full fledged work collective comprised of DJs, writers, visual artists, graphic designers and a photo/video team. By establishing the online presence through a comprehensive website and integrated social networking, IHEARTCOMIX is able to create on a vast array of multimedia platforms while remaining a marketing and brand integration leader in the digital realm.
