- This latest release on Night Slugs' vinyl-only white label series gives a glimpse into the murky, extra-terrestrial world of David Psutka's forthcoming album as Egyptrixx, A/B Til Infinity. A multi-media collaboration with Berlin-based visual artist A.N.F., graphics depicting "molten off-planet environments, strange underground realms and volcanic caves lined with arrays of fluorescent light tubes" were generated, with Psutka then setting these digital visions to music. Unsurprisingly, the product is a darker, more oppressive proposition than the warped synth pop of 2011's Bible Eyes album, but both the cuts here should still be of interest to plenty of DJs.
"Water (Reduced)" pairs metronomic, clacking percussion with a liquid bassline. It's a club-ready manifestation of deep red landscapes and flowing lava, suggesting that A/B Til Infinity will be an immersive, vivid experience. Atlanta producer Helix remixes "Adult," which originally came out earlier this year on the Night Slugs All Stars Volume 2 compilation. His rework is as drum-centric as his own productions, but ploughs a harder, more industrial furrow, foregrounding the original's machine-gun drums and periodically slicing through it with metallic shards of synth.
