- The Eglo queen whets appetites for her long-awaited second album with another slice of catchy modern soul.
- "The album's about going through the e-mo-tions, but also having some fun," Fatima Bramme Sey, AKA Fatima, said in a recent interview with Crack Magazine. The first two singles from And Yet It's All Love, which is out on Eglo in September, capture this reflective yet upbeat attitude. "Soooo I had to let go," she sang on last year's summery lead single, "Somebody Else," whose lyrics tell of regaining happiness after a severe break-up. On "Caught In A Lie," she's back questioning her feelings, at one point asking: "What's the point when all alone?" But the beat, produced by longtime collaborator Natureboy Flako (formerly Flako), is limber and rich with instrumentation, combining with Fatima's shapeshifting flow and impressive vocal range to seriously catchy effect. There's a swagger here that we haven't seen before. "But through it all I've always been sure of myself," she said in the same Crack interview. It certainly sounds like it.
