  • The music video for Lachrin's Infinite Machine debut shows the Scottish experimental artist contorting his muscular body into tight shapes. It represents, according to its maker, an embrace of femininity and reimagining of masculinity. You can also make out images of a rain-soaked city spliced into the footage. A church spire, building site, and hastily painted streetside graffiti suggest Lachrin's blustery compositions—full of discordant strings and chaotic percussion—are equally concerned with physical spaces. Recalling The Haxan Cloak's arcane electroacoustic work, Críoch begins with gently bowed violin until disquieting drones and distorted electronics crush any sense of calm. Contrast in mood, timbre and melody is key to this brutal, beautiful track.
