- The next release on In Music sees the remixes of Burn Out Baby by Nick Hook see the light of day. On remix duty is Martin Sharp and on the flip, we see Mike Monday provide two reworkings.
First up though is the Martin Sharp Remix and it is a pretty gritty production from the word go thanked largely to the rough techy baseline. The vocals stutter and float in the background alongside some nice melodic patterns that also come in and out of the track, and really take off towards the latter stages.
Turn the record around and you then have the Mike Monday Vocal Mix. The track really grabs the attention from the word go with some strong crisp drum patterns that build into some bouncy synth patterns that ride nicely alongside the main vocal. Once the beats kick back in alongside the synthy riffs, this track really takes off and shows why Mike Monday is such a talent in the studio. Top Quality stuff this is.
The Mike Monday Dub is a little more twisted, mainly due to the quirky stabs in the percussion. The baseline is simply devastating in this mix I must say, as it continually rumbles and drive the track onwards, and takes a very destructive course as the track progresses.
A very solid release, for me, helped largely due to the Mike Monday Remixes and the not too shabby Sharp mix.
