- Dubbed-out loops from a new name.
- Strange Loops, the name of Uly's new label, and its logo—a dog chasing its tail around the centre of the record—suggest the Melbourne-based artist is content homing in on a simple groove and keeping it rolling until there's nothing left. That's certainly the case with Strange Loops 01.
"Every Story Is The Same" is the most club-ready of the three tracks. It switches between weightless sparring and the kind of brick-wall kick drums you find in Vril's music. Minor chord changes lend a strangely eerie feeling, but otherwise it's just solidly executed dub house, the kind that will never exhaust a fan of this style. "Esquilax" is more patient and subdued, stretching the same formula out over a 12-minute warm-down exercise. Sitting in between them is the strongest track, "No-Op." There's no loops to be found here, not anywhere near the surface anyway. It's a shimmering cascade of plucked keys and not much else.
