Toké - Quatapine

  • The Georgian dance music scene has taken off in recent years (despite concerted efforts from the government to shut it down) largely thanks to the strength of clubs like Bassiani and local producers who have been crafting functional but limber techno. The latest exciting talent to emerge is Toké, whose newest EP, with shades of UK garage and dubstep, charts a path from Tbilisi to South London. The highlight is the sluggish skank of "Quetapine." Rattling bass hits burrow themselves underneath stargazing synth work, making a perfectly synthetic hybrid of trance emotion and dubstep weight.
