- The highlight on Familiar Strangers' fundraising compilation for the International Rescue Committee comes from Toronto dream team Cindy Li and Robert Steenkamer. Given Steenkamer's CV as a purveyor of Nu Groove-style deepness (not to mention the track's title), you might expect some lethargic Balearic house, but the duo dim the lights and bring out the smoke machines for a fidgety piece of UK-style techno with the bass weight to match. When you add in Li's vocal snippets and an eerily plucked synthline, "Deep FM" is better suited to the small hours than a roadtrip with the top down.
