- Face-melting techno.
- The title track from Dax J's latest EP hits like a blast of hot air the minute you press play. It's a bit of an older Dax J style, after flirtations with breaktbeat and tongue-in-cheek techno. Everything sounds serrated and raw, as if the whole thing was put through a woodchipper and emerged intact but ragged. Barked vocal samples sent through delay pedals give a whiff of old Downwards records, but dressed up in outlandish rave gear. Getting through even half of "Brixton" is an endurance test, but it's the kind that triggers the release of endorphins.
