  • After tearing up the sun-drenched dance floors of Ibiza last summer with their track "We Interrupt This Programme" Coburn, aka Tim Healey and Pete Martin, return with a deliciously tasty release titled "Give Me Your Love" and "Razorblade". Named after Hollywood legend James Coburn, Coburn have recently won the illustrious task of following up Jacques Lu Conte's Citroen ad (Who could forget the dancing robot?), with their new ad hitting UK screens in Spring. For me the pick on this latest release is the very rock electro "Give Me Your Love". The track kicks off with a sassy bass line, before hitting you with a very electro beat moving at a perfectly louche pace. Over the top is the most redeeming feature of the track, a very Kylie-esque vocal which, frankly if you're going to do a sexy vocal, then do it with Kylie! The track builds perfectly and looks set to bust dancefloors apart. Halfway through, the bass drops and in its place comes a hypnotic synth before a vocal tells us, "I need your love". Nice. The bass then kicks back in moving the tempo up a notch while the electro phasers keep it nice and dirty. The perfect tune to drop towards the end of your set when the noss is flowing and the crowd are nice and lubricated. On the flip side, Coburn again stick to their trademark style of rock electro except this time they are dressed in agent, provocateur G-string and bra. 'Razorblade' starts with a sound reminiscent of the very popular Tiga remix of LCD soundsytem's "Tribulations", however, this time we get a Deborah Harry electro-style vocal which oozes sex appeal. This tune is very much tailored for the end of the night, something that could be droped when the mode is right and you want the after party to take a lubricious turn! It's clear that Coburn are set for a big 2006. With the Citroen ad set to grab the attention of the masses, this release tipifies that Coburn still know exactly where it's at in the rock electro world. Folks get on-board.
