- Innervisions' vinly-only sublabel Philomena has had some interesting edits and remixes grace its discography, and that's no different on their latest offering. Ninja Tune's Fink gets his track, "Move On Me," rerubbed by Marcus Worgull. Many of the elements of the original remain, including the gorgeous piano line and much of Fink's guitar work. He also keeps the smoky vocals and the overall soul, but ramps up the BPMs to transform into a proper house burner.
On the flip, Red Rack'em delivers an acidic, dark, sensual techno-cum-house beast. It's a track that's been lighting up Dixon's sets for the past year or so, and it's not hard to hear why. The sharp percussion work layered over a stomping kick drum, all piled on top of an odd-on-paper sounding combo of a deep, dark 303 line and funky kalimba duet makes for one of the most striking tracks of the year so far. The combination of these two lush tracks, wrapped in a beautiful, high-quality jacket means this is one EP that is well worth the money in all aspects.
