Valve Bar & Venue opened its doors in July 2010 to keep underground music and culture alive and kicking in Sydney! Valve was created for emerging artists of all genres from Dubstep & Drum’n'Bass to Hip-Hop & Funk, Dub & Reggae to Hardcore & Punk, Rock & Metal to Blues, Folk & Soul.

Valve Bar & Venue has roots in Wellington, NZ started by two brothers with a love for live music. Valve was a starting point for thousands of bands including Shihad, The Black Seeds, Trinity Roots, The Upbeats, Fur Patrol, and Akaname; and had the pleasure of hosting thousands of other phenomenal live acts over a decade including Hatebreed, Throwdown, Darkest Hour, the UK Subs, and Pungent Stench.
Valve is now in Sydney City with live music 5 nights a week (closed on Monday and Tuesday). We have created a band friendly, high quality music venue. Already home to shows that will go down in Sydney live music lore, our driving goal is to bring you some of Sydney’s best live performers and underground artists in the best sounding, non-pretentious, all-inclusive, venue around. As such we have the best PA, equipment, lighting, and band space of any comparably sized venue.
The bar & bistro have all the comfort and familiarity of your living room (but with far superior sounds), and comes complete with a pinball machine, booth seating, smoking areas and signature back lane alley. Best of all, we’re situated in the middle of Sydney City, 2 minutes walk to Central Station and alongside many inner city attractions.
