Opened in 2004, Snafu is located in the Castlegate area of Aberdeen on what is known locally as the Granite Mile. The club is situated in the basement of the historic Athenaeum building, designed by Archibald Simpson. (The building served as Aberdeen's first Royal Mint and has a tunnel which leads to a historic prison in the city.)
The club itself features low level tables and leather seating in two lounge areas, a lowered dance floor and a stage for DJ or bands. Snafu has a full schedule, operating almost every night of the week. Weeknights focus on indie, disco, comedy and live music gigs whereas flagship Friday and Saturday nights bring international house and techno guests to the club.
Snafu closed in 2014.
