Railroad Blues presents MY DEER with special guest Culture Prophet
My Deer was originated by former Sirens & Sealions songwriter, Johanna Viscaino, and guitar player, Yannick Calleiro. Calleiro had collaborated with Viscaino in previous projects that lent themselves to a more indie/folk genre, but had always shared a passion toward indie pop, disco and ambient music. In late 2013 Viscaino decided to take on the challenge of writing songs that were more reminiscent to the sounds of Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Metric, Ladytron and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Once Calleiro got his hand on some of Johanna’s melodies, the duo knew the tunes should develop into something bigger.
Culture Prophet is a one-man force of uncompromising electro-pop. His live sets are raucous, sonic slabs of sound that guarantee all-night debauchery. Born in the gnarled pine of South Carolina, the Culture Prophet project started in 2005 as a solo electronic project for a guy who has been in countless bands from hardcore heavy metal to indie pop. In 2014, Culture Prophet released Carry Me, his third EP and second on King’s Head Records.
After moving to the sunny state of Florida he mutated into a dark entity that hides during the day between the four walls of King’s Head recording studio working in what would be his debut LP.
