- Alexskyspirit borned and raised in Patras/Greece,represents the Greek techno scene.Born, raised, and based in Patras, Greece, Alexskyspirit’s experience with the decks started in the early 00s in his hometown clubs and bars, blending his early influences of dark, progressive house with psychedelic trance. As he gradually honed his production skills and started shaping his musical identity, he shared the stage with some well-established names over those years, such as Edit Select, Keith Carnal, Charlotte De Witte, Dax J, Oxia, and Robert Dietz. His self-released and label-released material caught the attention of respected individuals from a broad techno spectrum, the likes of Amelie Lens, Joris Voorn, Abstract Division, Fabio Florido, Pan Pot, Deepbass, Ness, Claudio PRC, and Blazej Malinowski, who played his tracks on various occasions. Finally, this can also be a perfect example of how his sound shaped where he stands as a producer now. Following the previous summary is a look down on his activities, music, involvement, and inspiration. First of all, his focus and sonic environments are weaved and led by his affiliation with the coldest season of the year, the echoes and the grey scenery during rainfall, the colourful and noisy urban landscape of the city traffic, and the impactful, awe-inspiring creations of architectural nature. His sound has a light, gentle approach combined with minimal elements of hypnotic ambience, distorted textures, and cinematic pads to conjure an aesthetically-pleasing yet deep atmosphere. As for his activities, in 2014 and for three years, he was a co-owner, event organiser, and promoter for Cube Events. Once this was over, he started experimenting with Ableton and had his release debut that same year. Then, in 2019 and after a handful of EPs, he joined the hypnotic and deep techno movement. Lastly, since 2022, Alexskyspirit became, alongside Van Morph, a co-owner of Khoros Records, a UK record label and collective based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. So far, his releases are on the catalogues of Edit Select and Khoros Records, in which he is also a label artist, Circular Limited, Planet Rhythm, Paul Ritch’s Quartz Rec, Aarden Records, Bahn Records, Node Recordings, Artscope, and Postdynamic. In chronological order, the first label release was the Parasite EP in Planet Rhythm’s catalogue in the last month of 2020. Then, in the first quarter of 2021, two debuts followed with District X17 in Quartz Rec. and Waldweg Room in Postdynamic Records, having his original tracks enhanced by Gotshell and Hattori Hanzo remixes. In the heart of the spring, Edit Select welcomed Alexskyspirit to its ranks with the deep and hypnotic Kill The Signal EP. His second release to Planet Rhythm came shortly after with five original tracks in the Mystagogia EP, harnessing further his heavy yet atmospheric sound. To finalise this productive year, he released the track Defracted in the Subjective five-track compilation by Barcelona’s Node Recordings and, in the middle of summer, with Wielde Narve in Seoul’s Artscope he presented a fine example of how his deep and hypnotic productions matured. The upcoming year was also very positive release-wise for Alexskyspirit, having an outcome that reflected well on him regarding collaborations. In January 2022, Windenland came out on the Belgian label Aarden Records with two of his original tracks getting a remix by distinguished names in the genre, Svarog and Polygonia. Next, the first of the three EPs that later on established him as a label artist on Glasgow’s Edit Select was Subtonal Origins on the first of February. Afterwards, Wormhole EP on French Circular Limited was well-received among peers and fans, followed by his debut Dystopia to Khoros Records. The previous not only stood as the beginning of him as a label co-owner but also caught the attention of the critical and impactful to-the-scene channel Hypnotic Techno Circle, which wrote a short review on Khoros’ Bandcamp. The Fundamentals is the next chapter on Edit Select with four six-minute tracks, and once more, Circular Limited presents 0456 EP, a new addition to its catalogue, which was also his first release in 2023.
