Biografía

  • Professionally playing for a relatively short period of five years, Brazilian born Alysson Costa has achieved so much and is quickly rising to be a recognised name in London’s underground house/techno scene.
"No fundo do peito bate calado"sung Brazilian legend Newton Mendonca back in the 50's as part of the song Desafinado. This roughly translates as "deep inside, it softly beats", which is a phrase that certainly rings true for South American Alysson Costa and his devotion to deep house and techno rhythms. Alysson grew up in a vibrant rural community in Brazil and first fell in love with house music in 1995 after hearing the genre defining Todd Terry Remix of 'Missing' from Everything But The Girl, a stark contrast to his typical teenage passions for the sounds of Iron Maiden and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Inspired, as soon as he was of age he made the brave jump to London in 2002, quickly making friends and industry contacts through his work and various nights out at London's iconic nightspots The End, Turnmills and Ministry of Sound. Although always fascinated, Alysson first experimented with DJing at a friend's house party in 2003. Hooked on learning this coveted skill and craving a new challenge, decks were purchased, vinyl was collected and he set to work perfecting his techniques and expanding his collection of many genres of house, deep, tech, funky, latin, anything with a fierce bass line and soulful groove. Naturally yearly trips to lbiza followed, and his tastes gradually started to incorporate the deeper shades of techno of the Cocoon Heroes and DC10 . Fast forward to the present day and Alysson has clocked up an impressive gig CV, almost a 'where's where' of infamous London clubs including Ministry of Sound, Egg, Lightbox, Koko, Fire and Brixton Academy. Highlights include guest slots warming up for Miguel Campbell at uber cool underground label Bootleg Social's showcase at Sankeys lbiza, spinning for the Cafe del Mar Tour of Brazil early 2014 and to an audience of thousands at the sold out Together Winter Music Festival 2011 at Alexandra Palace alongside his idols John Digweed and Pete Tong. Shortly after the rise of his DJ star Alysson's inquisitive mind started to whirr over what's behind the beat, enrolling on a Music Production course with the esteemed Point Blank School. Armed with knowledge to go forth and create the music that had captured his imagination, Alysson teamed up with good friend Ruben Seidi and they formed M!5CHIEFZ. Their musical inspirations combining for an electrifying result; solid, bass line focused house music, drawing influences from each of their cultural and social backgrounds; Brazil, Balearic, and East London. Alysson's latest endeavor in music has seen him net a residency with Delice de Phunk at Ministry of Sound, he launched 'Subl!me' at boujis club Gigalum in Clapham, attracting a cosmopolitan, pleasure-seeking crowd every month. Alysson also brought 'Discotech', a popular weekly party to Bar Twenty Five in Crystal Palace London, inviting a plethora of London's best underground talent to play alongside him every Saturday. In addition, SQ Music snapped up Alysson's great ear for A&R and business development duties. The sky is no where near the limit for this talented young artist, kicking off 2014 with a stellar performance at Sub Audio Festival Clapham Common, plans to launch his own label, studio collaborations and productions for Re:Sound, SQ Music, Bootleg Social and Vintage Music; Alysson's consistent determination and versatility has proved his heart will beat always, solidly for the music.
