- Andrew Thomson has displayed a keen curatorial ear for championing the best emerging talent in electronic music today via the world of Huntleys + Palmers and beyond.Chipping away at the coalface of electronic music for the past 15 years, Andrew has overseen as many poorly attended events as he has sell outs. A commitment to adventurous and forward thinking line ups has introduced many exciting new faces to Glasgow and the UK for the first time, these include people you've probably now heard of; Helena Hauff, Lena Willikens, Oni Ayhun, Veronica Vasicka, rRoxymore and Studio Barnhus. Somehow along the way; Silver Apples, Charanjit Singh, Threshold Houseboys Choir, Daniel Miller, Baldelli, Shangaan Electro, Traxx, have made unforgettable appearances. The list goes on and includes personal favourites such as James Holden and Daphni. From Argentina to Ukraine - and everywhere in between - the championing of emerging artists at the early point of their career has continued across several record labels and seen debut releases by SOPHIE, Auntie Flo, Mehmet Aslan, Mamacita, Moonilena. There's many others you might not have heard of, but absolutely should. Invitations to DJ around the world have included extensive tours throughout Latin & North America, Asia, Australia, India. In addition to programming a weekly residency at London's legendary Plastic People, Andrew also made regular appearances at Dusseldorf's Salon des Amateurs mostly playing all night sets, something he has been on occasion able to flex at the legendary Bassiani in Tbilisi. Rooftops, pool parties, beach parties, fashion parties, art galleries, listening bars, pubs, dingy basements, festivals, superclubs, he's played them all. These travels have been documented via an extensively curated show on London's Rinse FM featuring a snapshot of unsung heroes, collectives, promoters, labels, artists and DJ's from outside of the typical media landscape. The show also serves as an outlet to showcase upfront and unreleased music, something that also crops on on contributions to well known mix series include Beats in Space, Dekmantel, HÖR, Boiler Room, Crack, Truants & 6 Music. Having visited many like minded community radio stations on previous trips, Andrew felt the Glasgow scene could benefit from a similar platform to both showcase the abundance of local talent and create a neutral cultural space that would encourage interaction from across the music and arts community.
