His journey into music began by being introduced to electronic mix tapes from abroad at the tender age of 12 and soon started to attend large ware..B-RANDOM A.K.A Nokken a Dj/Producer based in East London, born 1983 in sunny South Africa, Johannesburg. His journey into music began by being introduced to electronic mix tapes from abroad at the tender age of 12 and soon started to attend large warehouse raves in the city centre. It was at this point that he began to collect records and learnt to mix music. Spending hours locked up in his bedroom perfecting his style. It was not long before himself and a few friends (including Richie Lopes) got together and created Deep In Touch in 1998. Initially created to promote the new rise in the electronic music scene in Africa and broaden people’s outlook on underground dance music. Setting up large sound systems in abandoned warehouses and fields on the outskirts of the city this went on to gain the interest of many famous underground acts. Soon after the success of these parties B-Random went on to co-promote Tribe Afrika, allowing him to play in some the cities most renowned clubs and festivals (still under age) such as Carfax, Truth, Rustlers, Sublime, Slithering and Loathing (Cape Town) and many more along side top acts such as Jazzanova, Ian Pooley, Krushed and Sorted, G-Force, to name a few. After high school he attended a sound engineering course, allowing him to work with mixing desks, synths and music software, which left him hungry to begin learning to manipulate sounds and create his own unique music. In 2004 after his degree he moved to London continuing to produce and Dj and not long after set up Bad Apple parties with Richie Lopes, throwing many successful nights in bars, clubs and squats around east London and collaborating with Sizzle Parties (Wrong Rec.) and Deeper South. After attending many Minus parties around the city and in Europe and being influenced by the quality of music being produced in Italy, Spain and Berlin it was not long before this minimal techno bug took hold and so began his transgression into this scene and music. Some time after this he was introduced to Monokode, a Dj/Producer with the same musical taste, passion and goal who is now partner in the Codekontrol Project.
