Biografía

  • Bacchus is the lovechild of Bristol DJs and producers Ben Watkins & Sean Williams. They have joined forces behind the turntables as well as in the studio to bring to you their style of dark, sleazey tribal House & Techno.
Bacchus is comprised of Sean & Ben, two producers currently residing in sunny Bristol. In a city often noted as a cornerstone of the UK underground, the duo have marked themselves out by channelling their disparate musical influences into a unique take on house and techno. Having spent the vast majority of his life playing the drums, Vancouver-born Sean shored up his knack for percussion via adolescent forays into keys and guitar. This familiarity with a range of instruments and the resultant studio time (plus a pivotal season in Ibiza) soon led him down the road of solo production, with a number of his tracks being snapped up for labels including Tapesh & Maximiljan’s Variante Music. Ben, meanwhile, has taken a more direct route into production. A long-standing DJing habit has seen him hold residencies at a number of the South-West’s storied parties including infamous freeparty-come-clubnight Ripsnorter, and Scream, where he played alongside some of Bristol’s biggest exports including Waifs & Strays and Eats Everything. With an ever-growing arsenal of collaborative productions nearing release, Bacchus incorporate the pair’s DJing pedigree and expansive technical knowledge into constructions that are club-ready yet imbued with a distinct musicality. The debut Bacchus release out in July on Resonance Records is a collaboration with Waifs & Strays; expect to hear more from these two very soon.
