Biografía

  • Blu 9 aka Michelle Blu, Chicago born and raised dj and producer, within the underground house/techno scene, known as one of the most diverse members of the local music scene.
Often called the chameleon, she seamlessly moves through house and techno while bringing a significant energy to events she performs. With 15+ years of experience as a dj, her signature style of mixes and productions is what makes her sought after, interjecting her style into each event. Music and art has always been her passion ever since she was very young. Music always being a priority and focus, learning violin at 7, followed by composition and interest in piano and percussion. These elements are prevalent in her productions which often fuse electric violin, percussion instruments and other string elements to create a rich organic sound. Her extensive discography speaks to her sound across the multi-facets within the house and techno genres. Blu has become a Model 1 ambassador, the only Chicago based artist holding a Model 1 mixer in the area. Exposing various Chicago artists to the unique mixer has been an exciting and a rewarding challenge the past few years. She's a regular on the decks at well-known Chicago venues as well as underground events and local festivals. The artists she's played support for speak to her sound, from Nicole Moudaber,Anna, Boris Brejcha, Avision, Layton Giordani, Ida Engberg, Adam Beyer, Giorgia Anguili, Stacey Pullen, Ken Iishi, Function, Loco Dice, Juliet Fox, Oliver Huntemann, Sandra Collins, PleasureKraft, Sydney Blu, Coyu, Agent Orange, Paco Osuna, Chris Leibing, Richie Santana, Gene Farris, The Saunderson Brothers, CocoDrills, Dennis Cruz, Supernova, Oliver Giacamotto and Richie Hawtin. A regular on the decks at well-known Chicago venues such as Primary (resident dj), Spybar, Smartbar, Estate, Exit, Celeste, Hydrate, Prysm, Electric Hotel, Cerise, Smartbar, LeNocturne, Replay-Lakeview, The Mid and Soundbar, as well as underground events such as Rituals and Paradigm Presents to local festivals Mamby, Spring Awakening Music Festival, ARC Music Festival and Pride. She's also played various parties for the Art Basel festival in Miami as well as Movement weekend in Detroit. Blu is no stranger to playing New York, Milwaukee, LA, Miami, and Detroit and working with various events and artists in those respective areas. She continues to maintain a consistent monthly residency in Chicago’s boystown neighborhood as part of the Organized Grime Crew (resident dj) at various venues in that neighborhood interjecting underground house, techno and tech house back in an area that desperately needed it as well as bringing that sound back into the gay clubs/bars in Chicago.
