- BLXCK is a collaborative electronic group formed by Bay Area producer, Jeremy Black. Collaborators includes Trever Hagen, Ryan Olson (Políca, MDS), Justin Vernon, Andy Fitzpatrick (Bon Iver), Dave Harrington (Darkside), FJAAK and Dustin ZahnBLXCK is an experimental electronic group formed by Bay Area music producer and owner of Coyote Hearing Studios, Jeremy Black. The impetus for the project was born out of an experimental music festival in Berlin that Black was invited to be part of in October of 2016. The Michelberger Music Festival dubbed "Endless Nameless" was also the birthplace of the PEOPLE movement. The goal of the project is to break down the barriers of electronic music as a singular art, and find new sounds by bringing people of different walks together to create. There are a series of EPs in the works involving the different collaborations. Collaborators includes Trever Hagen, Trevor Brooks, Ryan Olson (Políca, MDS), Justin Vernon, Andy Fitzpatrick (Bon Iver), Dave Harrington (Darkside), Sam Cohen, FJAAK and Dustin Zahn. Performance will be taking place throughout the year in Berlin, New York, San Francisco and LA. TRYING TO PUT SOMETHING TOGETHER THAT EXPRESSES WHAT WE STAND AND CARE FOR. NOT BASED ON STRATEGIC ALLIANCES, BUT REAL RELATIONSHIPS. MUSIC IS OUR LANGUAGE. THIS IS WHAT WE SPEAK. EVERYONE IS CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS MAKING THIS THE BEST WE CAN DO. WHAT CAN WE DO? WHAT IS IN OUR HANDS, WHAT FOR? SOMETIMES THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED WITH SIMPLE ACTIONS. THIS GET-TOGETHER IS OUR ACTION. THIS IS WHAT WE CAN DO NOW. DOING SOMETHING TOGETHER. FREE. VULNERABLE. EPHEMERAL. THAT OCTOBER WEEKEND WE OPENED OUR DOORS AND HEARTS SHOWING OURSELVES RAW, INSPIRED AND FULL OF SONGS. WE WERE THROWING IT ALL OUT THERE. BUILDING ON THINGS WE KNOW, ON TALENTS AND TOOLS WE HAVE. ADDING SOMETHING TO IT, THAT ADDS THE UNKNOWN. IN THIS, YOU SEE US. AS HUMAN AS THIS IS. YOU HEARD MUSIC THAT YOU KNOW. MUSIC THAT YOU LOVE. SOUNDS THAT CHALLENGED YOU AND POSSIBLY ALSO MUSIC THAT HURT. WE TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILITY. THERE IS SO MUCH GOING ON IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. AND IN FACT, IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN. BUILDING ALTERNATIVES AND BUILDING SOMETHING BASED ON WHAT COMES OUT OF ALL OF US. THINGS WE AGREE ON: EQUALITY, TOGETHERNESS, INDEPENDENCE, ABUNDANCE AND CARE, AS WELL AS TAKING CHANCES. SETTING AN EXAMPLE FOR OURSELVES. CREATING A SPACE WHERE WE ALL CAN SPEND TIME TOGETHER. THAT IS THE MOST VALUABLE THING. THE ABILITY TO COCREATE SOMETHING THAT IS COMING OUT OF ALL OF US. THE LOVE FOR EACH OTHER, THE LOVE FOR MUSIC, AND THE LOVE FOR THIS EXPERIENCE. BEING ABLE TO RIDE THROUGH THIS LIFE, MAKING DECISIONS AND CHANGES. IT’S IN OUR HANDS. AND IT’S JUST MUSIC.
