With the intention set to spread light, positivity, and universal love, the music Botez creates is as inclusive as it is captivating. A conduit surging with the power of house and techno, he transmits creative energy towards the dancefloor to create peak experiences and everlasting spiritual connections. The Detroit musician’s sacred bond with his city’s legendary status as the birthplace of techno runs nearly as deep as his affinity for his motherland, Romania. He adapted his moniker from his given name, Anthony Botezatu. His last name translates as “The Baptized One,” apt for someone christened into the culture of dance music at the tender age of 18 via the sounds of Booka Shade and Art Department on the alluring beaches of Mamaia, Romania. His debut self-release “Burning” hit 13k plays on Spotify, which is no small feat for a new artist without label support. He then went on to release “Searching” on Brooklyn-based Andhera Records, reaching the top 10 of the Beatport Deep House Hype chart. His third release, a remix of Ky William and Tokio’s “Better Days” on Koma Recordings peaked at #24 in Minimal/ Deep Tech charts, solidifying his position as a potently talented and ambitious up and comer. Botez finds inspiration in both the raw and driving sound of Detroit techno and the graceful melodics of minimal house. He meets this juxtaposition expertly with a unique style that finds balance in these disparate worlds. Botez’s ability to blend the duality of the human and the divine is illuminated through his music, and the many that gather to celebrate the sound from around the world are clear evidence of the power that it holds.
