Biografía

  • "Ever since my dad had me and my friends playing musical chairs to Kraftwerk's Man Machine at my fifth birthday party I’ve been totally obsessed with music and sound."
Brendan has been DJing for about 9yrs, playing a variety of house/techno/electro/new wave. Brendan's musical influences are as varied as the styles he plays, ranging from new wave/punk acts such as Devo and the B-52's, 80's industrial acts such as Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and DAF, and modern day techno pioneers like Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills, Surgeon and Richie Hawtin. Recently Brendan has adopted a more minimal, punky, ebm sound; think Ellen Allien vs Alan Vega vs John Carpenter locked in a space station with nothing to do but watch 80’s Italian horror movies. Brendan made his Bugged Out DJing debut on Halloween 2003 at Liverpool’s famous Nation venue, playing alongside Green Velvet and the Scissor Sisters. Since then he has made regular appearances for Bugged Out at The End in London, Stealth in Nottingham, Sankey Soap in Manchester and Carling Academy Liverpool impressing everyone with his skills on the decks along the way. Recent highlights include headlining the MTV stage at this years EXIT Festival in Serbia; Liverpool’s Chibuku, where he destroyed the theatre before and after hero Dave Clarke; a 3hr set before Miss Kittin at The End for Bugged Out’s 12th birthday; Barcelona’s Moog club and Berlin’s Club 103. Brendan’s career highlight so far was playing after his favourite jock, DJ Hell, for Bugged Out at The End in May 2004. Clearly they have faith in his talent, offering him a residency at the age of 21 speaks for itself. Brendan was also involved in the promotion and success of famous Liverpool techno club Voodoo, where he was resident for 3 years, rocking the dancefloor alongside techno's finest including Green Velvet, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Andrew Weatherall, Slam, Robert Hood and The Hacker, to name a few. Brendan is quickly gathering a huge following across the UK and now further afield. Gigs in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Madrid, Dublin, Glasgow, Paris, Berlin and Prague confirm things are looking very promising for the youngster. Recent remixes for The Wombats. Ladytron and Justin Robertson were released internationally to great acclaim, with plays from The Chemical Brothers, Erol Alkan and Annie Mac. What’s next then? Launching his own label, Red Room Records (www.myspace.com/redrromrecordsuk) Lots of DJing. More time in the studio working on a number of projects; including new material, remixes and some exciting collaborations.
