- Brian not Brian is a fearless and diverse DJ hailing from London, known for his unparalleled dedication and distinctive style.Born and raised in Northern Ireland, his musical journey took shape through residencies and guest spots in the esteemed hip-hop, funk, soul, and disco scene in Belfast during the late 90s. These foundational experiences expanded his musical horizons and solidified his skills as a seasoned selector. Upon relocating to London at the turn of the millennium, Brian brought his unique style and flavour, shaped by his Northern Irish upbringing, to the metropolis. Immersed in the city's vibrant music culture, he delved ever deeper into record digging, established valuable connections, and hosted numerous parties and jams alongside friends and respected DJs. For almost a decade he worked shifts at renowned London record stores like MVE, Phonica, Kristina, and Rye Wax, which naturally further fuelled his musical prowess and range. Together with his close musical allies and colleagues, Brian promoted the now legendary 'Special Needs' parties, which spanned almost eight years and graced various venues throughout the city. Simultaneously, he secured regular guest slots at revered clubs such as Corsica Studios, Fabric, Horse Meat Disco, Plastic People and more. In recent years, Brian's musical journey has taken him across the globe, performing in Japan, Australia, Brazil, the USA, Canada, and numerous other locations throughout the UK and Europe. Accompanying his global excursions is the success of his record label - Going Good - which he established alongside his long-time friend and collaborator Salik Z. This open-minded and audacious label has gained international acclaim over its decade-long existence, consistently championing underground and fresh music from diverse corners of the world. Brian's busy schedule has included performances at renowned festivals like Dekmantel, Meadows in The Mountains, Farr Festival, and a yearly residency at Kala Festival in Albania. Additionally, he continues to grace numerous domestic and international club gigs each year, showcasing his impressive collection of music from various eras and genres. Known for his extended DJ sets, Brian effortlessly navigates genre boundaries with finesse, taste, and a keen sense of musical sensitivity.
