Biografía

  • B.Riddim aka Bellatur is Luis Sequeira, a Portuguese producer, songwriter and live musician living in London.
B.Riddim was born in Guarda, surrounded by an analogue cosmos and a broadcasting family, being his father the managing director of the local radio station, and the exposure provided to all sorts of machines and sounds has been a strong influence throughout his life. After a childhood studying Classical Piano, he soon widens his musical vision to embrace sampling and the creation of Hip Hop beats during his teen years. This all converges in an extended project called G-Ward, a Portuguese Hip-Hop collective formed in Guarda in 2003, where he stood up as producer and MC. At the same time, B.Riddim was growing a passion for Jamaican music and culture, which can be found in the blend of Dub with electronics and modern elements. All in all, B.Riddim's sound is identifiable through the sum of its parts in a unique way and might reasonably be expected to come from Bristol, given Bristol's musical history. Abroad since 2008, B.Riddim has been nurturing from various cultures and vibes. The first step was Madrid, where he studied Audio Engineering and started to cultivate his work as solo professional. Later in Vancouver, he got to shape his sound in post-dubstep, downtempo, electronic, evolving in a very personal atmosphere moulded with varicoloured layers and acid elements. After a short stay in Mexico DF, B.Riddim settled in London in 2011. Having signed with Third-Ear Recordings prior his arrival, he released in vynil (In)Theory EP in 2012 and Magic My Ear EP in 2014, with a third one upcoming in 2015. Previous releases in digital can be found among MonkeyDub, DubSundaes, and has contributed to Cesar Prata's Cançoes de Cordel, released in CD in 2010. From 2013, he's highly involved in the project Escabeau, a band of musicians coming from an eclectic mixture of vintage styles, classical avant-garde and modern-day sounds, where B.Riddim matches as a pillar member and clearly outlines his personality on the sound. Honouring his roots, he's been hosting the weekly radio show 'Rewind It', which is broadcasted at the oldest local radio station in Portugal: Altitude Radio 90.9 FM, from Guarda, bringing together the national and international scene since late 2013. THEREʼS NO POSSIBLE DEFINITION FOR B., OTHER THAN ONE INVOLVING RIDDIM.
