- DJ | Radio Presenter | Kidney Donation Advocate | Kidney Failure - in need of a kidney transplantCandice McKenzie was born and raised in London, UK. She is passionate about Gospel House and Inspirational House Music and using it to encourage and inspire - although she can extend to other genres including Garage, Club and Dance. Her passion, determination, drive, and positive attitude have led her to win two BEFFTA (Black, Entertainment, Film, Fashion, TV & Arts) awards, for Female DJ of the Year – 2009 & DJ of the Year 2010, be nominated for DJ of the Year at the 2018 Gospel Touch Music Awards, judge the Eurovision Song Contest, and be named as one of “20 Black UK House acts that you should know about" by MixMag Magazine. Her flawless skill and professional attitude have helped her build an attractive portfolio of high profile corporate clients and top brands. Not only is she a continued first choice DJ for corporate events, company functions, fashion and beauty shows / classes, product launches, in-store events and gym / fitness classes, Candice is also regularly booked as a guest panelist on TV shows, radio programmes, and at events, to offer expert advice on music. Candice is also a radio presenter and is a familiar and trusted voice on Christian radio. She mixes, produces and presents a specialist House Music show called “The Sanctified Selection” on Premier Gospel. This popular radio show is the perfect meeting place of gospel and soulful house, and airs every Monday night. She also presents “Saturday Nights with Candice McKenzie” on Premier Gospel radio and “Get Your Praise On” on its sister station Premier Praise. Candice also appears regularly on the main station, Premier Christian Radio. Candice is an experienced events producer, working with high-level individuals in and around government, creating online live broadcasts, podcasts, and special audio productions. In 2019 Candice was diagnosed with a kidney disease called IgA nephropathy, also known as Berger’s disease. In 2022 this developed into kidney failure and as part of her ongoing treatment, Candice started dialysis to maintain her life as she waits for a kidney transplant. Candice is an advocate for kidney donation in the Black British African and Caribbean communities.
