Back then without helpful technical devise - no mixing desk, no 1210er - he grabed his HiFi tower with 300 W output line and winding the tapes to the right place to start playing music without mixing the single tracks with each other. In 1995 the artist was captured by the classical DJMixing or as you say „ BeatMixing“ when there were enough records in his privat collection. At this time Funk-Artist and Bands like Cameo, Yarbrough & Peoples, Prinz, Cool and the Gang, Marvin Gaye, Micheal Jackson and the Jackson Five played an important roll in his musical development. This music inspired Carlos Mendes. More then 22 years the Portuguese artist is devoted exclusivley to Electronic Dancefloor Music. First producer experiences he made in 2001. The skilled interior decorator, was ask by a friend to decorate a studio for a musicvideo. Immediatley the 26 year old was exited about the many alternatives the different Instruments gave him to create music. After reams of hours at the studio and even more fascinated by the options to make music he found himself in trance, completely lost in music. Tireless he worked on the miscellaneous sound until the perfect tracks were produced. „... but they will never be finished! he sais... . From 2001 until 2003 Carlos lived on the Island Mallorca, where he and a friend launched the label „ Disko Massaka Recordings“. Which predominant releases styles like House, Tech-House and Progressive. He went back to Munich in spring 2003 and took over the label 100%. Today „ Disko Massaka“ is the Mother-Label. In 2007 Living Room and Mendes introduced the „ GoodMoodMusic“ label which includes the styles Chillout, Deep House, New Jazz, Acid Jazz, as well as Drum and Bass. Only one year later followed his 3. label called „ Diskoton“ with the main focus on Deep Minimal, Techno, Minimal and Elektro. „ With this three labels I cover the complete technical musicmarket!“he narrated. After all as a resident DJ in international clubs; like Paraga Beach at Mykonos, ArtDeco Mallorca or Prinzip Club Munich as well, since 2005 summer residency at the island Hvar (Croatia) the Carpe Diem; the career for the today 40 year old Passiondejay is further steep on the rise. German Carlos Mendes' Passion für die Musik begann schon vor ziemlich langer Zeit. Er war gerade mal 17 Jahre jung als er auf Bayern 3, einem lokalen Münchner Radio Sender, Freitags die aktuellen 'TOP TEN' der Woche auf Kassette aufnahm um diese dann bei Geburtstagsfeiern oder sonstigen Partys wiederzugeben. Damals noch ohne hilfreiche Technik – kein Mischpult, keine 1210er – schnappte er sich seinen HIFI Tower mit einer stolzen Ausgangsleistung von 300 Watt und spulte die Kassetten an die jeweils richtige Stelle und startete die Musik ohne die einzelnen Tracks miteinander zu mixen. Das klassische Mixen, oder auch in der Fachsprache ineinander Faden (beat mixing)' ergreift den Künstler erst richtig im Jahr 1995, als sich genug Platten in seiner privaten Sammlung befanden. Dabei spielten viele Funk-Künstler oder Bands wie Cameo, Yarbrough & Peoples, Prinz, Cool and the Gang, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson und die Jackson Five eine wichtige Rolle in seiner musikalischen Entwicklung. Diese Musik inspirierte Carlos Mendes. Seit nun mehr als 14 Jahren widmet sich der Portugiese ausschließlich der elektronischen Dancefloor Musik. Erste Erfahrungen mit dem Produzieren machte er im Jahr 2001. Ursprünglich gelernter Raumausstatter, sollte er für einen Freund das Studio für ein Musikvideo dekorieren. Sofort war der damals 26-jährige begeistert über die Möglichkeiten der vielen verschiedenen Instrumente um Musik kreieren zu können. Nach unzähligen Stunden im Studio und fasziniert von den Möglichkeiten des Erschaffens von Musik befand er sich wie in Trance; in die Musik versunken. Und er schraubte unermüdlich an verschiedensten Sounds, bis die perfekten Tracks erschaffen waren. „Und dennoch sind sie niemals fertig!", sagt er….. Als Carlos 2001 bis 2003 auf Mallorca lebte, gründete er mit einem DJ Freund das Label 'Disko Massaka Recordings', welches vorwiegend House, Tech-House und Progressive veröffentlicht. Als er im Frühjahr 2003 zurück nach München kam übernahm er das Label zu 100%. Heute ist Disko Massaka sozusagen das Mutter-Label, denn 2007 gründeten Living Room und Mendes das Label 'GoodMoodMusic', welches die Stilrichtungen Chillout, Deep House, New Jazz, Acid Jazz sowie Drum and Base abdeckt. Schon 1 Jahr später gründete er dann sein drittes Label 'Diskoton' mit dem Schwerpunkt : Deep Minimal,Techno, Minimal sowie Elektro. „ Mit diesen drei Labels decke ich den kompletten elektronischen Musikmarkt ab !" , erzählt er.Immerhin als Resident DJ in internationalen Clubs wie Paraga Beach auf Mykonos, ArtDeco Mallorca oder Prinzip Club München und seiner seit 2005 sommer residency auf der Insel Hvar(Kroatien) das Carpe Diem , kann es für den heute 39 jährigen Passionsdejay zweifellos nichts anderes als steil nach oben gehen. ....
