Carmine P. Filthy

Biografía

  • Carmine P. Filthy was born in Miami, nurtured in Chicago and expanded in New York.
His earliest club experience started at the age of 15, when he would smooth talk his way into the legendary Mission on South Beach for a Monday night party called Girl from U.N.C.L.E. This risk formed a relationship that would lead him into the thriving underground Drum n' Bass party Beat Camp, held every Thursday at the same venue. Before he knew it he was promoting the party (although he did not realize that's what he was doing) and listening to the top notch D n B and Jungle DJs of the moment. DJ Craze, Doc Scott, Grooverider, Goldie, Roni Size & Egg Foo Young were just a few of heads he was lucky enough to hear. He bought himself some turntables around age 17 and started collecting records. He would go on to dabble in whatever music he could as a DJ and would eventually find his first residency via the Blow Up party (now Revolver.) Tired of the direction Miami was going he moved to Chicago to immerse himself in House. He found an eventual residency at The Gramercy playing three nights a week and buying records by the bag full from Gramaphone and Dusty Groove. While there he caught some of the finest the city has to offer : Derrick Carter, Diz, Justin Long, & DJ Heather just to name a few. He has been in New York for over 2 years and has been patiently waiting for the mass hipster dance craze to move on so that he can create the dance floors he envies from the past whether it be Paradise Garage or the Hacienda. He is addicted to music and expects it to drive him to insanity some day soon. He has played at APT, B.E.D., Beauty Bar, Midway, The Delancy, The Annex, Happy Ending, element, Happy Valley, and Movida. He currently produces a monthly event called Even Further at Hope Lounge with Rudy M. Sixteen in Brooklyn and releases weekly mixes via the Internet called Filthy Sessions. Whether wobbly fidget house, micro tech, digital soul, nu disco, or straight up 'body music,' expect to get dirty with P. Filthy on the decks.
