With the perfect balance of originality, technical ability and crowd interaction, Casma (aka Chris Scullion) never fails to provide an energetic performance. His preferred genres are house, deep house, tech house and techno but overall, his style knows no limits. It all began for Casma at the age of 13. He was inspired by the mixing ability of the older kids in his local youth club in the outskirts of Belfast. Right then and there he fell in love with the idea of creating his own sound. After getting his first set of turntables, he got stuck in and seemed to pick it up quickly. Every day after school, his music came first and school work came second. It wasn’t long before his natural ability came to light and within a year, and at the age of 14 he was persuaded to enter The Northern Ireland DJ Mixing Championships of 2004. The competition was home to many talented local DJs and he thought his chances of progressing within the competition were pretty slim given the years of experience behind the older competitors. To his surprise he made it through all of the heats and went on to compete against some of the best talent in Northern Ireland in the final! In the end, the best man won, leaving him runner up. The exposure he received from the competition led to many performances in various local nightclubs around the Greater Belfast area. As a 14 year old he embraced the opportunity to to ditch the bedroom DJ experience and began to create a name for himself as a young emerging artist. Another year passed and he entered The Northern Ireland DJ Mixing Championships for a second time and this time he was crowned Northern Ireland Mixing Champion of 2005 at the age of 15! Following the competition he was introduced into the area of production. He always knew it would be a route he would follow and now, after a much anticipated wait and under the alias of Casma, he is launching his career as a Producer whose style will reflect the same confidence and originality associated with him as a performing artist. Over the years, Chris has been influenced by various artists including Chris Liebing, Umek, Filterheads, Fergie, Dave Clarke, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles and Paul Kalkbrenner. His debut release is a remix of "Alex Wareing - It's Not My Fault" and it went on sale on all major download stores on 29/07/13. His next release is "Casma - Stockings and Champagne" and will be available to but from mid September.
