Recognised as a well motivated, renowned hard working and forward thinking individual, Chris Jones is utilising these qualities towards building his status as an established DJ. Chris began DJing in 1998 after discovering a passion for electronic music, which could not be entirely fulfilled on the dance floor alone. Following an experience in 1996 which almost took his life and two difficult years, Chris was able to put the past behind him, start a new life and express himself through electronic music. In 1999 Chris became a resident for UK South Coast night ‘The House Of MissDemeanour’. This gave him the opportunity to play out on most Saturdays and to a crowd of 300 people on Millennium Eve, which at the time was his biggest audience and remains a memorable moment for him. In 2000/01 Chris was influenced by emerging genres of music and began to develop and establish his own unique style. He began playing more Techno orientated sounds after being inspired by productions from artists such as Mr G, Timo Maas, Mauro Picotto, Umek and Valentino Kanzyani. Festival DJ sets from pioneering techno artists Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Christian Smith and Slam also played a key part in influencing his future music style. Late 2005 saw Chris refine his style further and progress into sub genres of Tribal House as well as Minimal Techno. In 2006, Chris became a resident for UK night ‘Platonik’ and also appeared at UK festivals HI:FI South and Global Gathering, where he opened the ‘PunchFunk’ stage on both occasions. Between Spring 2007 and Autumn 2009, Chris was Label Manager for PunchFunk Records, a role within which he dedicated all of his time outside of a paid full time job to its success. During this time he successfully built the label up from near demise to greater recognition featuring upcoming artists from around the world such as Reuben Keeney, Hernan Rodriguez, Rich Jones, Sirus Bagheri, Tyler Brunton and Hans Bouffmhyre. Chris has since 2009 been DJing from an entirely digital setup using Traktor Pro and Ableton Live with MIDI controllers. With his outlook to DJing now more than just playing one record after another, the ability to be creative and multi-layering sounds on an entirely spontaneous nature has increased his performance style. This has led to Chris gaining current monthly residencies for UK nights ‘Full Circle’ in Portsmouth as well as London based night ‘Product’. Along with these, he has a monthly radio show on the Digitally Imported Tech House Channel. His two hour show, named ‘Cadencia’, is broadcast on the second Thursday of each month and usually features a one hour mix from Chris and another from a guest for the second hour. ‘Cadencia’ is often listened to by over 300 people and achieved a new listener record in its second month of broadcast. He is currently studying advanced music production for a BA Hons degree in Digital Music at University in Southampton, UK. Increasing his knowledge of Logic Pro, Live 8 and Reason 4, Chris is hoping to have a number of tracks released before completing University in 2011.
