- Low End Theory… Native City Records co-label boss, Batty Bass and Deep Down resident…Deboa has been DJing and promoting across the UK since 1997. From record collecting and playing at parties in his native South London, Deboa spent 5 years in Manchester, where he DJed under the alias Felony regularly playing at classic clubs and nights such as Sankey's Soap, Spellbound, Viagra Falls and his own, Fall-Out. A move back to London saw Deboa play at nights such as Hospitality at the now legendary Herbal and become resident at Bang! followed by We, Like You often using alias Papa LaBas along the way. 2008 saw Deboa team up with another South London native, long-time friend and collaborator Hannah Holland becoming resident at the notorious Batty Bass, a residency he still holds today. A close association with Batty Bass has seen Deboa carve sets at Fabric London, Glastonbury, in Berlin, Austria, New York, Burning Man Festival and San Francisco. Deboa also champions his own Deep Down...parties, dedicated to showcasing the most future facing electronic artists. Having previously worked at some of music's most influential labels (including Hospital Records, Buzzin' Fly, Rough Trade, Grand Central and Sony), as well as creative music agency Mix 'n' Sync (which he founded), Deboa's style touches on many bases. West African poly-rhythms, melody and a 'slight' obsession with bass (having begun his journey as a Drum and Bass DJ) influences his selections which primarily focus on various forms of House and Techno. Deboa will effortlessly move from deep, 'brukky', broken and Detroit infused House and Techno whilst easily slipping back into his strictly bass centric roots rolling out Jungle and Drum and Bass when the occasion arises! Production wise, releases include 'Fight' EP plus remixes for Smokin Jo and DJ Deamonds on Native City Records.
