Drowned is a live hardware techno act currently based in London. His roots go back to the American midwest rave scene when he began spinning drum and bass in the mid 90s, then moving on to performing live, most notably in the Chicago noise scene. This project initially began in 2014 as Forward Antenna Technologies, a live duo with his long time collaborator Brian Labycz in Chicago. They were regular guests at Chicago’s Smart Bar as well as underground parties in the Midwest. Upon his move to Europe, he established Drowned to continue performing techno. His sets are improvised journeys into hard, heavy psychedelic grooves indebted to Midlands UK techno, Midwest industrial and Japanese noise. Last year his notable performances included several at Berlin’s ://aboutblank for Staub and Buttons, Griessmuehle, a London debut at Rye Wax and Pittsburgh’s Hot Mass party. He was also invited by DJ Nobu to perform at the Black Sheep 10th anniversary rave in Chiba and made his Tokyo debut the same weekend alongside DJ Yazi. He capped off the year at the Drone label night at Tresor.
