The first album DVONNE owned was the double compilation, The Best of Luther Vandross... The Best of Love. The first concert DVONNE attended was a hip-hop festival where The Notorious B.I.G. headlined. DVONNE delved into goth-industrial in the late-90s and became a raver-club kid at the turn of the millennium. All of that comes out on the dance floor. A Mid-Atlantic delicacy, DVONNE is a Washington, D.C.-based DJ and a resident member of techno-collective Noxeema Jackson. DVONNE has played renowned venues across Washington, D.C. including the Kennedy Center, Hirshhorn Museum, Echostage, 9:30 Club, Black Cat, and Jimmy Valentine's, and is a regular at Trade. Outside of D. C. DVONNE has played Honcho at Hot Mass in Pittsburgh and venues in New York City, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Paris. Raised on gogo, gospel, funk, hip hop, and house, DVONNE spent the beginning of the millennium attending parties at the legendary D.C. nightclub Nation. After three years in the European club scene, DVONNE moved to D.C. in 2009 and began carving out a queer corner in D.C. nightlife, establishing multiple parties, including the near-decade-long-running CTRL. With Noxeema Jackson, DVONNE curates sound and culture centering and embracing QT BIPOC2S artistry - Nita Aviance, Shaun J. Wright, Dee Diggs, Jasmine Infiniti, Ariel Zetina, and Clarisa Kimskii, to name a few - and invites all to partake. Honoring musical roots and inspiration from dance floors DVONNE brings a unique blend of genres and beats to make you move your body.
