Known for his wide-reaching, euphoric and prog-influenced releases and DJ sets, Ed's unique grasp of left-field sound-design within a dancefloor setting continues to fascinate house and techno heads around the world. Earning his reputation as a versatile DJ on the London Minimal scene during the early 00s, Davenport's first wave of 12"s surfaced in 2006. A mutant strain of deep-house set the tone for his first EPs on German labels Gumption and Liebe*Detail, ('Diminuendo' and 'Eyespeak') becoming underground classics. After his move to Berlin in 2008 and a mixtape (delivered by early supporter Nick Höppner) landed him his first slot at Panorama Bar, a moodier, 'techy' hybrid sound began to emerge, peaking with key releases such as the bass-bin rattling 'More Red Lights' on UK label NRK in 2011 and the widescreen 'Counterchange' LP the following year. His hypnotic, groove-focused releases on Mosaic, Falkplatz and Figure SPC saw Davenport's sound continue to explore all corners of the house and (deep)techno landscape, while a minimal-music indebted EP on the Maeve label ('Silver Walks', 2015) highlighted his unique skill for storytelling. A follow-up double-12" for Siamese (Festnetz, 2017) boldly stated his love for analog synth textures and post-acid trippery. With his celebrated 'Inland' alias, Ed indulges his passions in darker and faster strains of techno, while also exploring experimental music, sound design and film scoring. Simultaneously, Davenport's Counterchange label has notched up over 40 releases - the 'Solstice' EP (2013, COUNTER001) a blueprint for the label's diverse sound. Primarily a home for Inland material, the label released music from genre-bending contemporaries like Efdemin, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Perm and P. Lopez / Ariel Me Llamo. In 2023 a new wave of electrifying house music began in earnest with Davenport's 'Place of Connect' EP on Blitz club affiliated label Childhood. Lead cut 'Suntazia' boldly reawakened the British raver within with its breakbeats and wiggling acid undertow, while 'Electricity' set a new benchmark for Ed's brand of extended, tripping, headsy bass-bombs. The sea-change also welcomed a return to the hallowed closing slot at Panorama Bar, a setting Ed feels very comfortable in, and continues to inspire and nurture his unabridged, eclectic DJ style packed with secret edits and vinyl records old and new. In 2024 Davenport looks forward to a new chapter with the launch of Globuli, a label-collective built around the core principles of this new house-techno-acid era. Playfulness, positivity, collaboration and connection are key.
