- Emerencz Merkle known professionally as Nomad Black / Emerencz, is a Queer Canadian born DJ, Producer & Founder of OBSKUR MUSIC Record Label. They currently live in the PNW.They began as a classically trained musician who then immersed into the Northern Canadian electronic music culture in 2009. Inspired by their experiences living in Berlin & immersing in the underground music scene, Emerencz has spent most of their career transforming off-the-grid spaces for sharing warehouse techno, acid & hard hitters back home. They released their first EP titled Aufsteigen EP with label partner Kloves in 2019. In their role as head of OBSKUR MUSIC, Emerencz channels their passion for creating community into providing a platform for queer & women talent on a global scale. You can also find Emerencz’s passion of self expression through visual media; art & fashion in their label’s designs. Emerencz started OBSKUR RADIO, a digital radio podcast geared toward sharing queer / women / POC talent globally for other likeminded artists. They were the co-founder of Terrestrial.FM, a local radio show in Vancouver, a slot dedicated to showcasing the city's hidden talents & building the city's music community.
