Gant Garrard aka Gant-Man - DJ/Producer/Remixer - Chicago Born into a music loved and played regularly household, Gant-Man was introduced the turntables by watching his older brother mix vinyl at the age of 4. By age 10, Gant was ready to share his talent with the world when the program director gave him his own mix show on a south side college radio station (WKKC) in Chicago. As a teen, his first residency was at a roller rink where he showcased what was becoming to be the sound of Ghetto/Booty House to a large south side audience every Saturday. Gant was learning how to produce music with the mentorship of Chicago House renowned producer Paul Johnson. Feeling confident in his production he was ready to release his first solo EP in 1995 "It's About Time" for Chicago's independent Dance Mania imprint. This EP was very experimental for young Gant, fusing Chicago style House, Ghetto House and excerpts of Techno in the tracks. From producing EP's and regionally released mixtapes, Gant is recognized as being one of the main key innovators of Ghetto House and Juke Music. Gant, (alongside DJ Puncho who coined the word Juke and it's usage) spawned a new genre from fans calling this sound "Juke music". During that time, Gant also began releasing House music EP's under the pseudonym Gant Garrard to separate his Ghetto House and Juke tracks from his House music tracks. After playing many parties locally throughout Chicago, with the EP releases spreading worldwide, Gant began to travel, playing both the rave, club and festival scenes in the U.S., as well as Europe landing residencies in Paris and Ibiza. Gant is the first Juke producer to have a remix on a major label with a major artist with an official remix of Beyonce's "Check On It" on Sony/Columbia Records produced with a rhythm half time hip hop and double time Juke stye of production. Among many of Gant's releases, the Juke stye track, "Juke Dat, Juke Dat" is his most popular to date along with "Juke Dat Girl", a Chicago House style track which is featured in Tyler Perry's movie "Peeples". Gant has produced, remixed and collaborated with many eminent artists and producers in the House, Juke, Footwork and Hip Hop genres. Gant is the co-founder of Chicago's Juke and Footwork music collective known as TekLife alongside founders DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn. He still continues to produce, remix and play events as he reaches 30 years of DJ experience.
